Foreigners law is the branch of law that a state or country applies to foreigners who come to a country. The law of foreigners is generally based on the principle of reciprocity, and the legal rules to be applied to foreigners in Turkey differ according to the country of citizenship of the foreigner.
The “Foreigners and International Protection Law” numbered 6458, which determines the procedures and principles regarding the entry of foreigners into Turkey, their stay and exit, and the scope and implementation of the protection to be provided to foreigners who request protection from Turkey, entered into force in 2013. and all kinds of transactions are coordinated by the General Directorate of Migration Management under the Ministry of Interior.
At the same time, the “Law on Work Permits of Foreigners” numbered 4817, which determines the principles regarding the permission of foreigners to work in Turkey and the work permits to be given to these foreigners, entered into force in 2003. With this law, some exceptional cases have been counted regarding the work permit of foreigners, and it has been stated that work permits can be granted to foreigners in such exceptional cases.
The issue of foreigners acquiring real estate in Turkey is regulated by the “Deed Law” numbered 2644 and some special laws, and it is possible for foreigners to acquire real estate in Turkey within certain limitations.
“Settlement Law” numbered 5543, “Passport Law” numbered 5682, which regulates the resettlement works to be carried out for reasons of national security with immigrants, nomads, those whose places have been expropriated, the practical conditions and measures to be taken regarding the arrangement of physical settlement in villages, the rights and obligations of the resettled, and the acquisition of Turkish citizenship and The “Turkish Citizenship Law” numbered 5901, which determines the procedures and principles regarding the execution of works and transactions regarding loss of income, and the “Foreign Direct Investment Law” numbered 4875, which covers the treatment to be applied to foreign direct investments, are also included in the legislation forming the Foreigners Law.
