Competition law is a branch of law built on the rules established for the purpose of protecting competition in goods and services markets. These rules, which deal with the actions and transactions of undertakings operating in the goods or service markets, are generally under three headings.
In this framework, competition rules prohibit the agreements, decisions and concerted practices that limit competition between undertakings, and the abuse of this position by undertakings that have a dominant position in the market, and they subject mergers and acquisitions above certain thresholds to control.
The Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition is the primary source of competition law.
The Competition Authority was established in order to ensure the formation and development of goods and services markets in a free and healthy competition environment and to supervise the implementation of the law.
